Changes in Soil Physical and Chemical Properties during Vegetation Succession on Miyake-jima Island

چکیده

The bare lands formed after volcanic eruptions provide an excellent opportunity to study the interactions between vegetation succession and soil formation. To explore changes in physicochemical properties processes relationship them, of different ash accumulation on Miyake-jima Island were studied at stages. results showed that bulk density gradually decreased porosity, water content (SWC), pH, cation exchange capacity (CEC), total organic carbon (TOC), nitrogen (TN) increased significantly with succession. surface horizon most obvious, deep accumulated a large amount relatively stable nitrogen. forest land thicker matter horizon, accumulating more than grassland, quality index (SQI) was higher grassland shrubland. In conclusion, our research indicates significant change improvement processes, emphasizing development land.

Analysis of Early Bacterial Communities on Volcanic Deposits on the Island of Miyake (Miyake-jima), Japan: a 6-year Study at a Fixed Site

Microbial colonization on new terrestrial substrates represents the initiation of new soil ecosystem formation. In this study, we analyzed early bacterial communities growing on volcanic ash deposits derived from the 2000 Mount Oyama eruption on the island of Miyake (Miyake-jima), Japan. A site was established in an unvegetated area near the summit and investigated over a 6-year period from 200...

Analysis physical and chemical properties of soil and morphometric impacts on gully erosion

It is widely known that the development of gullies causes the loss of a great amount of soil and can be considered as one of the principal causes of geo-environmental degradation. The study area of the present research is located in the eastern shores of Urmia Lake. This study sought to evaluate the rate of growth and effective factors on the area’s gully dynamic over a year. To achieve th...

Impact of forest vegetation on soil characteristics: a correlation between soil biological and physico-chemical properties

Temperate and dry deciduous forest covers major portion of terrestrial ecosystem in India. The two forest types with different dominant tree species differ in litter quality and root exudates, thereby exerting species-specific impact on soil properties and microbial activity. This study aims to examine the influence of forest type or dominant tree species on soil physico-chemical properties and...

Effect of different poultry wastes on physical, chemical and biological properties of soil

The effect of poultry waste application on physicochemical and biological properties of sandy clay loam soil was investigated on a 7m X 7m plot of land. Plot was divided into four portions and 7.5kg each of broiler, cockerel and layers waste was applied to plot A, B, and C in slurry form while plot D was used as control(no application) for eight weeks with two weeks interval. After the fourth a...
